收到邮件, 他们不搞Openvz了, 要转行搞Cloud
21/6 停售, 旧有用户不受影响
Dear ---,
Since our inception in 2006, Virpus has relied on OpenVZ as a platform to provide our customers with virtualized private servers. However after re-evaluating our business model, we have decided to discontinue offering our OpenVZ line for new signups effective June 21, 2013. This will have no effect on existing OpenVZ services, and will only disable new signups after that time. Customers in need of a VPS should consider a Xen based system, which offers much better reliability, faster speeds, and is more fault-tolerant.
This decision came about due to the reliability of Xen vs. OpenVZ. As I am sure our Xen customers can attest to, Xen tends to be much more superior over OpenVZ in relation to reliability and also security. And while OpenVZ as a technology is faster than Xen, we have optimized our Xen nodes to outperform our OpenVZ nodes many many times over again with standard E5 Xeon processors and hardware RAID 10 disk arrays. Additionally, we price Xen very closely to OpenVZ, and in some cases, Xen is cheaper than OpenVZ.
Around the same time OpenVZ is scheduled to be discontinued, we also plan on rolling out our onApp powered Xen based cloud platform, a self-healing, scalable redundant system. Removing OpenVZ will help streamline our offerings and make the decision of going with a stand alone VPS vs. a Cloud based system an easier decision to make.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your business! Also, feel free to respond back to this e-mail with any feedback you may have. We'd love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Kenneth Odem
